Marshall Softball Takes On Memphis

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University softball team sits at 16-16 overall and 2-7 in Conference USA and will look to edge past the .500 mark this weekend when it travels to Memphis to face the Tigers in a three-game series at Tiger Softball Complex.
First pitch for Friday's doubleheader is slated for 5 p.m. (EST), while Saturday's game is set for a 1 p.m. start (EST).
Memphis comes into the series after going 2-0 against Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday. The Tigers have a 17-12 overall record and are 4-4 in C-USA.
The Thundering Herd is led offensively by freshman Jazmine Valle, who has a team-best .333 batting average. In conference play, senior Caitlyn Jackson paces MU in batting average (.379), runs (5), doubles (4), slugging percentage (.517) and a conference-best 11 hits.
Senior Katie Murphree guides the team in the circle with a 10-9 record and 113 strikeouts in 116.0 innings pitched.
Marshall leads the all-time series against Memphis 11-1, and has won 10 straight meetings dating back to 2006.
