Women's Golf Stands in Third Place Following Day One

FARMVILLE, Va.- The Marshall University women's golf team completed two rounds of play in third place, behind the play of freshman Samantha DiDomenico (Follansbee, W.Va.), who shot a team-low 157 on day one of the Tina Barrett Longwood Invite at Manor Resort Golf Club in Farmville, Va., on Monday afternoon.

The Thundering Herd ranks third out of eight competing teams, shooting a 634 (309-325=634) on day one. Host, Longwood University completes 36-holes of play in first place.

DiDomenico and Rachel Halloran (Leawood, Kan.) each shot a team-low 75 in the opening 18-holes on Monday afternoon. Halloran concluded the day tied for 15th place (72-83=158), just one stroke behind DiDomenico, who enters day two tied for 12th place (75-82=157).

Andrea Grier (Hagerstown, Md.) shot a 77 in first round action and finished the two rounds in 24th place (77-85=162). Kaci Boyd (Ashland, Ky.) stands just one stroke behind Grier, after improving seven strokes in the second round and completing day one with a 163 (85-78=163).

Elin Andersson (Stockholm, Sweden) rounded out the team, shooting an 82 in each round on Monday afternoon.

James Madison University's Mary Chamberlain enters the final round in first place with a 146 following day one.

Maria Battaglia (Uniontown, Pa.) stands tied with Halloran at 15th place, shooting a 79 in both rounds.

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday afternoon with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
