Softball Heads To Morehead For Midweek Tilt

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - After dropping a conference series against Memphis over the weekend, the Marshall University softball team will hit the road for a doubleheader at Morehead State on Wednesday. First pitched is slated for 3 p.m. at University Field.
The Thundering Herd (17-18) and the MSU Eagles (17-13) have faced off 28 times, with Marshall holding a 22-6 advantage in the all-time series.
MU will be led in the twin-bill by Rebecca Gamby and Jazmine Valle, who pace the Herd with .313 and .312 batting averages, respectively.
The Marshall pitching staff holds an ERA of 3.42 with 209 strikeouts in 229.1 innings.
MSU is led offensively by Kayla Ashbrook, who enters the contest with a team-best .316 batting average. Top pitcher for the Eagles is Alex Gjevre (9-7). Gjevre ranks first on the squad with a 2.12 ERA for a staff that brings a 2.53 ERA into the circle.
