IRVING, Texas- Marshall University golfer Allison Harper was named C-USA Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday after leading the team to a first place finish at the Wendy's Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday in Charleston, S.C.

The sophomore from Upper Arlington, Ohio, shot rounds of 70 and 73 at the Coosaw Creek Country Club to post a total score of 143 that was good enough to tie her for first place in the field of 86 golfers. Her first-round score of 70 is the lowest of Harper's career, and helped take two strokes off of her round-average for the fall season. The Herd golfer even scored a rare hole-in-one during the first round of the event.

This is the first time that Harper has received the honor, and her recognition marks the first time a Marshall women's golfer has earned the award this season. Harper and the rest of the ladies golf team will play in one more tournament this fall when they travel to Gulf Shores, Ala., for the UAB Beach Blast on October 31.
