GULF SHORES, Ala.- The ladies of the Thundering Herd golf team will travel down south to the UAB Fall Beach Blast this Monday and Tuesday for what will be the squad's final tournament of the fall 2011 season.

The Marshall team is fresh off its first tournament win in three years after placing first in the 16-team Wendy's Invitational two weeks ago.

Sophomore Allison Harper led the field in that one, tying for first overall with a two-round score of 143 and a rare hole-in-one to help earn the win for the Herd. Freshman Korakot Simsiriwong also showed well with a seventh place score of 149.

For the ladies, the UAB Beach Blast will mark a rare chance to earn back-to-back first place victories for the first time in school history, and could give the team some much-needed momentum as it heads into the official 2012 spring season.

The event is set to take place at the 6050-yard Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Ala., with the first 18 holes to be played on Monday, and the second round of 18 to be played on Tuesday. There is a total of 11 teams - including the Herd - playing in the tournament.
