IRVING, Texas - Marshall diver Lauren Rone has been named Diver of the Week by Conference USA. Rone was honored by the conference offices after setting Marshall's all-time record in the one meter springboard competition with a score of 281.55 during the dual meet against Xavier this past weekend.
The junior from Centennial, Colorado qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships to held in Buffalo, N.Y. and scheduled for mid-March. Rone is only the fourth diver in Marshall history to qualify for the Zone Championships.
Rone's score lands at fourth best this year in the conference. Previously this year she set the seventh through ninth best scores in Marshall history for the one meter event. This is her first career Diver of the Week honor.
"The coaches observe Lauren on a daily basis, and we all agree that Lauren's maturity in and out of the water this season is helping to develop the team around her, and it's parlaying itself into strong performances on the boards," remarked Head Coach Russell Hunt.
Swimming & Diving returns to the water this weekend when they travel to face Youngstown State on Saturday, November 5th starting at 2 p.m.
