INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Marshall Swimming and Diving was able to capture two victories Thursday against the University of Indianapolis and Butler University at the Ruth Lilly Center in Indianapolis.

The Herd improved to 6-2 with two wins over Indianapolis (1-2) 65-46 and Butler (0-2) 91-20. The six wins matches the highest season win total for Marshall Swimming and Diving during their time in Conference USA. The mark was set during the Herd's 2005-06 campaign, which was the first year of competition in C-USA for Marshall.

Russell Hunt's crew was paced by Kacey Preun who captured first place in the 1000 yard Freestyle and 100 yard Breaststroke events. The freshman's time of 10:19.32 in the 1000 Freestyle were both Preun's and the Herd's second best time of the year in the event. It was her second win of the year in the 1000 Free.

Other winners of the evening included the 400 yard Medley Relay group of Vera Niemeyer, Madison Lawhorn, Sarah Kay, and Tiffany Aeling capturing the first event of the tri-meet with a time of 4:00.41. It is the second best time of the year for Marshall.

Heather Moore pulled in a win in the 500 yard Freestyle with a time of 5:09.94. It is her best mark of the year in the event. Kay was the Herd's other individual swimming event winner with a victory in the 200 yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:12.06.

On the diving side of the competition both Lauren Rone and Casey Kriacopoulos finished one and two respectively in the one and three meter diving events.

Hunt was pleased with how his ladies got the three days of action started, "This was an opportunity to start our weekend off on the right foot, and we seized it. Credit goes to The University of Indianapolis for running a great meet, and creating a competitive environment for all the teams competing on a Thursday night. It will serve us well going into the Coers Invite tomorrow."

Marshall is back in the water Friday and Saturday as they compete in the Doug Coers Invite at Ball State University. The competition is set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday and run throughout the day Saturday. HerdZone.com will have a recap following the action each day.
