Kissell Earns C-USA Tennis Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas - After posting a 3-0 record at the ITA Indoor Team National Tournament, Michaela Kissell of the Marshall University women's tennis team has been named the Conference USA Player of the Week, as announced by league officials on Tuesday.
Kissell started her weekend off with a dominating doubles performance alongside teammate Dominika Zaprazna, as the duo defeated the 20th ranked team in the nation of Rachel Dillon and Alex Leatu of Vanderbilt, 8-2.
On Sunday, Kissell won an 8-5 decision in doubles against Dartmouth's Melissa Matsuoka and Molly Scott, then defeated her second nationally-ranked opponent of the weekend as she won a three set decision against No. 94 Scott, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6, in singles action.
Kissell has played to an overall record of 10-1 in spring competition and is a perfect 6-0 in doubles. This is her first Player of the Week award of the 2011 season and the fourth of her career.
