HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The No. 49 Marshall University tennis plays just its second home match in the past eight contests as the Thundering Herd hosts Eastern Kentucky University Friday afternoon at the Huntington Tennis Club.
The Herd (10-2) jumped five spots in the national rankings this week after coming off a pair of road wins against CAA members as MU defeated William & Mary by a mark of 4-3, and breezed past Old Dominion, 7-0. The win at William & Mary was Marshall's first win at Williamsburg in program history.
Through 12 matches, the Herd has compiled an overall singles record of 48-20 (.706) and an impressive record of 26-9 (.743) in doubles play. Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna have yet to be beaten in doubles action and have moved their record to 12-0. They are the 26th ranked duo in the country.
Eastern Kentucky enters Friday's dual with a record of 6-3 and had its six match winning streak snapped by the University of Kentucky as the Wildcats shutout the Colonials, 7-0. The Herd defeated Kentucky earlier in the season by a score of 5-2.
Friday's first serve is set for 1 p.m., and will likely be the Herd's final match at the HTC this season. MU has two road matches after EKU then hopes to play the remainder of its schedule outside at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center located in the middle of the MU campus, beginning on March 18th.
