HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The No. 49 Marshall University tennis team was victorious in all three doubles matches, then proceeded to sweep singles en route to a 7-0 shutout of Eastern Kentucky University on Friday afternoon at the Huntington Tennis Club.



The Thundering Herd improved its record to 11-2 on the season, matching its start from the 2010 campaign, in which the Herd finished with an overall record of 19-7.



Catherine Kellner and Maria Voscekova got the ball rolling for the Herd as the duo improved its record to 9-4 with a doubles win on court two, defeating Oscoz/O'Neil, 8-1. No. 26 Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna kept their undefeated season in tact with an 8-3 triumph in first doubles against Albuquerque/Faure. Kara Kucin and Karli Timko completed the doubles sweep on court three with a narrow 8-7 victory over Mhirit/Poffo.



In singles action, Kissell and Kellner each won their fourth consecutive match as Kissell topped Albuquerque, 6-2, 6-3 in first singles, and Kellner won in second singles 6-0, 6-3 against Oscoz.



Zaprazna recorded her fifth win in a row with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory in third singles over Mhirit, while Voscekova was victorious in fourth singles, 6-3, 6-1.



Fifth singles saw Kucin fight back after dropping the first set to win a second set tie-break over Faure, 5-7, 6-3 (10-5). Timko rounded out the MU sweep with a resounding 6-1, 6-0 victory in sixth singles.



The Herd heads back out on the road for its next two matches, then ends the season with six of its final seven matches at home. Up next for MU is Miami (OH) on March 4th, in Oxford.
