HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's basketball jump starts its two-game road trip as it travels to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face Southern Miss on Sunday. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m., at Reed Green Coliseum.

Marshall (5-16, 1-7 C-USA) is in the midst of a seven game slump, falling victim to East Carolina in its latest contest, 61-43, on Thursday. Tynikki Crook entered the top-five in scoring in program history surpassing Sheila Johnson, with 1,340 career points. Crook ended the night with a team-high 15 points making it her 20th double-digit effort this season.

Southern Miss (9-12, 4-4 C-USA) snapped a three-game win streak with a 78-58 loss to Memphis on Jan. 30th. Jamierra Faulkner has led the Golden Eagles in scoring in the past two contests tallying a team-high 19 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and three steals in the 75-63 win against SMU, followed by a team-high 17 points to go along with four assists and five steals in the matchup versus the Tigers. Rachel Vigers leads the team with 16.9 points per game this season.

"This is the end of that stretch where in the beginning of the season we saw that we had nine games and six of them were away. Our kids are tired and beat up this is kind of the culmination of this four week period that we've been on the road for an eternity but if we survive this we get to come home for some quality time in the Henderson Center," head coach Royce Chadwick said.

Southern Miss holds an 8-3 series advantage after splitting with the Herd last season.
