HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - A season which featured four career-best marks and nine performances that ranked in the program record books, here is a look back on the 2010-11 Marshall University diving squad.

Kayla Edwards
In her first appearance donning the green and white, the newcomer posted what would be her career-best mark in the 1 Meter in the season opener against Radford. Her score of 218.02 also ranked ninth all-time in program history.

"Kayla and an outstanding season, she worked very hard and has made tremendous improvements in all aspects of her diving," said head diving coach Jim Zagaria. "I believe that we have only scratched the surface of her achievements at Marshall."

In the 3 Meter, her score of 223.88 is her career-best and ranks eighth at Marshall. During the C-USA Championships Edwards' 122.50 in the Platform also made a mark in the history books, ringing in at sixth.

Haley Holmquist
Put up a 12th ranked score of 269.78 in the 3 Meter against in-state rival West Virginia, also her season-best in the event. Had a successful latter part of the season, continuing to improve she recorded a season-best score in the 1 Meter with a tally of 249.15 against James Madison.

Marshall's least seen event in the Platform saw Holmquist place two scores in the program records with a prelim score of 150.15 (6th all-time) followed by a mark of 155.80 in the finals, which ranks as the second-best performance in MU history.

"Haley qualified for finals in every event at conference, which is no easy feat, but she had a very fitting end to an exceptional diving career," Zagaria said. "She has been a tough competitor and will be missed."

Holmquist finished her career with one NCAA Zones appearance, was named the C-USA Diver of the Week in 2009 (Nov. 17), in Marshall history she is ranked fifth in the 1 Meter (256.57, 2/7/09), second in the 3 Meter (288.97, 2/4/10) and first in the Platform (160.10, 2/27/09). Holds 12 scores that rank in the Top 20 Performances at MU, three of those coming from the 2010-11 season.

Lauren Rone
Jumping to an early start, the sophomore recorded her season-best mark in the 1 Meter against Radford with a score of 238.42. Rone continued to strive in the 3 Meter, bettering her scores throughout the season to get a best at the C-USA Championships with a tally of 241.85. Also at the championships her career-best of 145.80 in the Platform in the finals ranks third in the top 10 at Marshall and is the eighth best performance in school history. Her prelim score of 134.65 also rang in as the 16th best performance at Marshall.

"Lauren is a very driven athlete and worked very hard this year and all of her hard work was rewarded with a first time final on the 1 Meter," said Zagaria. "I know that she will continue to improve and O expect great things from Lauren in the future."

Maribeth Smith
Smith saw season best scores in 3 Meter and 1 Meter later into the season, with her second-place finish of 225.90 in the 3 Meter coming against Vanderbilt. In the following meet against James Madison she put up a score of 215.55 in the 1 Meter for a season-best score.

"Maribeth is a fighter. She fought through back issues all season; in fact she had to take three months off in the middle of the season. With that being said, it is incredible that she was able to put together competitive list on both 1 Meter and 3 Meter," said Zagaria. "Overcoming her back issues and her good work ethic I know she will be a contributor for the rest of her diving career."
