IRVING, Texas - Marshall women's golf's Molly Ginger (Centerville, Ohio) was one of six golfers named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.
The team was compiled of student-athletes with a 3.2 cumulative GPA, who had appeared in at least 75 percent of their team's tournaments.
Ginger compiled a 3.97 GPA toward her sports management and marketing degree. The senior is a four-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member and a four-time Academic Medal recipient. Last season she was named a National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar.
"I'm really excited to receive this honor," Ginger said. "I'm happy that my hard work is being rewarded and acknowledged."
Upon graduation this spring Ginger will remain at Marshall to begin graduate school, striving for a degree in human resource management.
"I think it's one of the highest honors that we have, it takes into account everything that a student-athlete should embody," head coach Meredith Knight Rowsey said. "There is such a limited number that make the team, and looking at the girls that received the honor the field is clearly filled with tough competition. I'm ecstatic that all of Molly's hard work has paid off."
This season Ginger has played in 22 rounds of action, with a total of 1760 strokes, for an average of 80.0, second best on the team. The Centerville, Ohio native, shot a career-low 73 during the final round of the Lady Bison Fall Classic to help the Thundering Herd to a fifth place finish. The senior has finished a team-best in four of nine tournaments, including two of the three spring tournaments. Ginger stands as one of only two members of the Herd to participate in all 22 rounds of action this season.
