Herd junior shoots Even par in second-straight strong round to end season
POINT CLEAR, Ala. – Marshall junior Maddi Hudson capped her final round of the 2026 Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship with an Even-par 72 to lead the Herd on the last day of Match Play at Lakewood Club in Point Clear, Ala.
Hudson finished the day with three birdies while keeping her scores low on a day in which only 21 competitors shot Even or better.
The Herd junior started her day well again, notching consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th holes to get her day going.
After making the turn at Even, Hudson later birdied the 4th hole to end her tournament at 11-over, tied for 35th overall.
Madison Borders finished with a 5-over 77 while Abbey Bull had a 6-over 78 as other top scores for the Herd.
The Herd did not finish in the top four teams of Stroke Play, bringing an end to the 2025-26 season and an end to the careers of Bull and Olivia Kochan, who have both played four years for the Herd.
ULM was the top-seed coming out of Match Play and will take on No. 4 seed Old Dominion, who defeated Coastal Carolina in a playoff for the final spot. South Alabama and Texas State will meet in the other semifinal.
Old Dominion's Barbara Car shot a 6-under 66 on the final day to earn the SBC Individual Championship.
Match Play semifinals will get underway on Thursday morning with the Match Play championship to follow directly after at The Lakewood Club's Dogwood Course in Point Clear, Ala.
