Gamby Named to Conference USA Softball All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas. - Rebecca Gamby of the Marshall University softball team was named to the Conference USA Softball All-Academic 12-person team as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.



Gamby, a Mount Victory, Ohio native is the seventh in program history to be honored on the Conference USA team, and also makes it the fifth-straight year Marshall has had an athlete garner the accolade.



An ecology and evolutionary biology major, Gamby has been named to the C-USA commissioner's honor roll every year and earned academic medal honors twice in her career. She is a two-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete who has built up an extensive trophy case in her time with the Herd.



She was a NFCA Mideast All-Region honoree in 2010 and also a member of the C-USA All-Freshmen Team in 2009.



In 2011 she finished the regular season tops on the squad in hits (41), RBI (31) and home runs (12). In conference action she finished among the league leaders ranked second in home runs (7) and slugging percentage (.694) and fifth in RBI (15).
