ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits of the National Pro Fastpitch league signed Amanda Williams of Marshall University to the 2011 roster. Williams will begin her sixth year in the league to compliment her four years as assistant coach of the Thundering Herd softball team.

Williams opened her rookie season with a regular-season title in 2006 with the Bandits alongside her twin sister Jessica, who currently plays for the Akron Racers. From 2007-09 she played for the Rockford Thunder - winning a NPF title and NPF All-Star accolades - before a stint with the Tennessee Diamonds last year.

"This is where I was drafted my rookie year, so it is an honor to be back here," said Amanda Williams. "I am excited to be alongside some of these girls and the new facilities."

Williams will once again suit-up with former Herd softballer Rachel Folden, a four-time All-American at MU from 2005-08. "We are very fortunate to have Amanda on our staff," said head coach Shonda Stanton. "She is one of the best athletes to come through our program and it is great to see her continue to excel at the pro level. I am really proud of what she has accomplished along with Jessica and Rachel. I hope to have a chance to see all three of them play this summer in the league."
