HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University's women's soccer team is excited to announce the addition of Eliza Bennett-Hattan as a graduate assistant within the coaching staff. Bennett-Hattan will be joining the program for the upcoming fall season, which opens against Longwood University on August 13 on Sam Hood Field.

"Eliza is foremost coming to work with the goalkeepers," commented Head Coach Kevin Long. "She had excellent coaching and training while at Syracuse and has a lot to offer. She is very fun and the players are going to really love her."

After finishing her term as a four-year starter in the net for the Syracuse Orange, Bennett-Hattan will join the coaching ranks as the women's soccer G.A. The former keeper brings a great deal of goal keeping knowledge and expertise from Syracuse, but also through her time coaching within surrounding communities.

Eliza has held numerous coaching titles, including Head Coach of Lake Braddock Junior Varsity and several different roles with the Washington Freedom Professional women's soccer team. Furthermore, she was the Director of goalkeeping and Regional Manager for SNFCornerKick in 2011. Bennett-Hattan has also been in personal/group goalkeeping training since 2007.

Bennett-Hattan noted, "I'm excited to be joining the Marshall women's soccer coaching staff. I look forward to learning and being a part of an ambitious, hard-working program."

While at Syracuse, Eliza held countless Big East honors and records to go alongside being voted team MVP in 2010 as well as Best Defending Player in 2009. Additionally, she lit up the SU record books with 331 career saves (first), 104 saves in a single-season (second), a 0.94 goals-against average for a single-season (first), and 20 career shutouts (first). Bennett-Hattan will also fit in well with Marshall's proven academic success, as she was named to the Academic Honor Roll from 2007-2010.

She is currently striving to receive her NASM qualification in personal training.
