Korakot Simsiriwong Named MU Athlete of the Week

Huntington, W. Va. - Freshman Korakot Simsiriwong has been named the Marshall University Athlete of the Week for her performance in the women's golf triangular match against EKU and MSU.

Simsiriwong led The Herd on Sunday, August 28, with an overall score of 75 (37-38). Her 3-over par round placed second among 24 competitors.

Simsiriwong is one of two freshmen to contribute to the 2011-12 women's golf team. She is a native of Thailand and has qualified three times for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship.

Coach Meredith Knight Rowsey has quoted several times, "Korakot will bring additional talent to the already gifted women here. These women have great potential to be successful."
