Huntington, W.Va. - Marshall University's women's soccer team starts a two-game weekend on the road as The Herd travel to Richmond, Kentucky to take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels Friday, September 9. The 5 P.M. showcase will be the second meeting between the two teams, as MU claimed the only victory back in 2006.

The Herd is looking to turn around its current losing streak and start seeing some ticks in the win column. MU has posted a number of shots against each opponent; however, their biggest challenge has been putting up goals. In five games The Herd has posted 68 shots, including 20 on-goal. Alongside its shot on goal numbers, Marshall has tallied 22 corners.

Following Friday's matchup against the Colonels, MU plays host to the Morehead State Eagles. The second home game of the season will be the sixth matchup between the two squads since 1998. The last time these two teams met was in 2006.

Coming off of a loss against No. 24 West Virginia last Monday, Coach Kevin Long knows that the team is moving in the right direction, but need to start seeing results. He noted, "We are playing better soccer and our players are showing more effort, which gives us the opportunity to score more goals and win more games."

Long continued, "We need to put ourselves in better position to score down the stretch. Early season question marks and jitters need to be out the window if we want to start putting W's in the win column."
