HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall (12-4, 3-0 C-USA) and UCF (13-3, 3-0 C-USA), both undefeated in Conference USA play, will put first place on the line at the Cam Henderson Center on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Thundering Herd men's basketball team will have the opportunity for a 4-0 start in the conference for the first time since starting 4-0 during the 2009-10 season. Marshall, UCF and Memphis (2-0) are the only undefeated teams remaining in C-USA.
Marshall is coming off a 61-59 win at UAB on Wednesday, just four days since a 63-61 victory at Rice. It marked the first time the Herd had won back-to-back two-point games since the 1990-91 season.
Sophomore DeAndre Kane is coming off his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. He leads the team and ranks fourth in C-USA in scoring with 15.9 point per game.
Junior forward Dennis Tinnon had 19 rebounds Wednesday to improve his season average to 10.9 rebounds per game, the ninth best mark in the NCAA. Tinnon also leads the nation in offensive rebounds with 4.9 per game.
Marshall's strength continues to be its rebounding as it ranks first in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game (17.7), second in rebounding margin (+11.6) and fourth in rebounds per game (42.9).
UCF is on a five-game winning streak and is coming off a 74-63 win over Houston on Wednesday. The Knights are looking to start 4-0 in conference for the first time since 2008-09. They are led in scoring by junior guard Marcus Jordan's 16.9 points per game, the second best mark in the conference.
Marshall leads the all-time series 7-5. The Herd has won four of the last five meetings including the last one, 83-69 in Huntington on March 5 last season.
The game will not be televised, but can be heard throughout the Thundering Herd Radio Network. Live video streaming and gametracker will be available at HerdZone.com.
