NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Thundering Herd swimming and diving squad will look for its first win of 2012 when they travel to Nashville to meet up with the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Action will begin at 2 p.m. E.T. Saturday inside Vanderbilt's Centennial Sportsplex and will be the final dual-meet for Marshall this season.

Following a very successful 2011 portion of the schedule, the Herd (7-5) has dropped both of its meets in 2012 to Akron and Ohio. Vanderbilt will serve as strong competition for Marshall as they prepare for the Conference USA Championships next month. Marshall Head Coach Russell Hunt agrees, "We will find ourselves in a wonderfully competitive environment this weekend in Nashville."

The last time the Herd was in the water, they were defeated by Ohio. In the meet, Marshall grabbed three wins which included Madison Lawhorn continuing her domination in the 100-yard Breaststroke with her ninth first-place finish of the season. The sophomore has only lost once in the event this year.

Marshall also picked up a victory on the diving side, with Lauren Rone claiming the top score in the one-meter diving event. Rone has already qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships slated for March.

Vanderbilt (0-4) dropped their most recent meet to Evansville, 162-132. The Commodores have also endured losses to Kentucky, Western Kentucky, and fellow C-USA member Tulane.

The Herd and Commodores will meet for the fifth time in a dual meet. The series is knotted at two wins apiece between the squads.
