Herd Falls at ITA Kickoff Weekend

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The Marshall tennis team battled No. 8 ranked UNC in round one of the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday afternoon but came out on the wrong side of a 7-0 scoreline as the Tarheels swept the Herd aside in round one action.

The host side defeated Marshall in all six singles matches after claiming the doubles point by downing the Herd in two out of three doubles matches.

Marshall's No. 35 ranked duo of Dominika Zaprazna and Maria Voscekova snatched the Herd's only doubles win on the evening, defeating UNC's No. 48 ranked pairing of Lauren McHale and Haley Hemm, 8-5.

With the loss Marshall is eliminated from advancing to the ITA National Indoor Championships and will square-off against VCU in the consolation match on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. The Herd is now 1-2 on the season.
