UAB improved to 3-7 (2-4 C-USA)
Marshall fell to 4-6 (3-3 C-USA)
Jazz King's third quarter touchdown reception was the third of his career and second this season.
With Rakeem Cato's pass to King, Marshall has thrown for a touchdown in each game this season and in 14 straight games dating back to last season.
Cato is now number one all-time at Marshall in passes completed in a single-season with 343. He passed current offensive coordinator Tony Peterson (340). He also moves to second on the MU single-season list for pass attempts with 494.
The sophomore quarterback also moved up to number six on the Marshall single-season passing yards list with 3,506.
Gator Hoskins has now scored a touchdown in three straight games and six of the team's 10 games.
Five receptions by Tommy Shuler moved him to fifth all-time with 87. He is 19 short of Mike Barber's record of 106 in 1987. He also now has 101 career receptions and is the 26 player all-time at Marshall to catch 100 or more passes.
75 rushing yards by Kevin Grooms moves him to fourth all-time among Marshall freshman running backs with 577.
17 fourth quarter points by Marshall is the most it has scored this season in the final quarter.
This was the fourth straight game that the Thundering Herd has forced at least two turnovers.
Three interceptions were the most by Marshall this season. It is also the third straight year MU has picked off UAB three times.
A first quarter interception by Keith Baxter was the first of his career.
Two sacks by Jeremiah Taylor gave him his first two sack game this season. It also the second straight season he has two or more sacks in a season.
A third quarter interception by linebacker Jermaine Holmes was the first of his career.
A fourth quarter sack by Jarquez Samuel was the first of his career.
The Herd received the opening kickoff for the 15th straight game, extending the longest active streak in the nation.
Brandon Sparrow's fourth quarter blocked field goal was the first of his career and the seventh for the team this season, tying the MU single-season record (2011).
A 38-yard field goal by Justin Haig in the fourth quarter gave the Herd five straight games with a made field goal.
Marshall has not missed a point after touchdown (PAT) in 30 games as Haig is also now a perfect 47-for-47. Tyler Warner and Haig were a combined 31-for-31 last season.
