Marshall Ready to Battle the Navy Midshipmen

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's basketball (6-6) will close out the non-conference schedule with a game against the Navy Midshipmen (6-6) in Annapolis, Md. The contest will tip off in Alumni Hall on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

The Thundering Herd is coming off a 67-60 loss to Tennessee Tech in the Cam Henderson Center. Forward Leandra King posted a career-high 16 points after going 5-for-7 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free throw line.

Sophomore Shay Weaver leads Marshall with 10.4 points per game and is the Conference USA leader in three-pointers made, averaging 2.6 per contest. Chukwuka Ezeigbo leads the Herd on the boards with 6.0 rebounds per game and is the league leader in blocked shots, totaling 1.8 per game.

Navy is 6-6 after losing its past two games against Mount St. Mary's and Marquette. Alix Membreno is leading the Midshipmen with 12.6 points per game and has a team-high 25 steals. Jade Geif follows with 12.0 points per game and is leading Navy on the boards with 7.8 rebounds per game.

Marshall leads the all-time series, 2-1. The Herd knocked off Navy, 70-58, in the last meeting on Dec. 16, 2007 in the Cam Henderson Center.
