HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The 70 mile span that separates Huntington, W.Va., from Morehead, Ky., will be travelled by the visiting Eagles this Saturday as the Morehead State women's tennis team arrives at the Huntington Tennis Club for a 1:00 p.m. showdown with the Marshall Thundering Herd.
Having compiled a 1-3 record while spending its opening four matches on the road, the No. 62 ranked Herd will welcome the opportunity to play its first home match of the season against a Morehead State team that has never beaten Marshall in eight tries.
Last season, the Herd swept Morehead State 7-0 to win its opening match of 2011, but this year finds itself in a three-match hole following losses to Kentucky, UNC, and VCU. The 2-3 Eagles are coming-off a 2-5 loss to Duquesne, but did claim the scalps of West Virginia and IUPUI earlier in the season.
The Herd will rely heavily upon the experienced doubles duo of Dominika Zaprazna and Maria Voscekova - ranked No. 35 in the nation - to lead the squad to its first win since January 14. The pair has lost just one match this season en-route to a 3-1 record.
Saturday's match will be the first of the Herd's seven home contests this spring and will be played at the Huntington Tennis Club's indoor courts.
