HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall University women's tennis team will look to halt a three-match losing skid this weekend as it plays host to regional foes Liberty University and Virginia Tech at the Huntington Tennis Club on Friday and Saturday.

Starting on Friday at 1:00 p.m., the 3-6 Thundering Herd will play the first of its two weekend matches against the 1-5 Flames of Liberty University. Liberty's lone win this spring came against Longwood back on February 9, and the team lost 6-1 to Coastal Carolina in its most recent outing. The Herd doused the Flames 4-3 last season in the first-ever matchup between the two schools, and will be hoping for a similar result this time around.

Less than 24 hours later Marshall will return to the Huntington Tennis Club for a 10:00 a.m. showdown with the Virginia Tech Hokies. Like Marshall, the Hokies (7-4) dropped out of the most recent ITA National Rankings following back-to-back losses to Missouri and Minnesota, and will be looking to get back on track with a victory over their regional rivals. Marshall and Virginia Tech have played one common opponent so far in the season - VCU - and both teams suffered losses to the currently No. 42 ranked Rams. Interestingly, the Hokies played Liberty two weekends ago and walked away with a 5-2 victory. The Herd defeated Virginia Tech 4-3 in Blacksburg last season, but is 7-10 against the Hokies in the all-time series.

Of interest in Marshall's matches this weekend will be the health of sophomore No. 2 Maria Voscekova, who didn't play in the Herd's last match against Miami (Ohio) after suffering an injury against Penn State the day before. Both of this weekend's matches will feature live stats, which can be accessed by clicking the links below.
