Tennis Readies for WVU Rivalry Match

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall University women's tennis team will put its undefeated home record on the line this Sunday when the West Virginia Mountaineers come to the Brian David Fox Tennis Center for a noon match.

The Thundering Herd returned to .500 with a 6-1 victory over ETSU on Friday, and will now look to move above the mark for the first time since January 14 with a victory over its in-state rivals. Historically, Marshall has dominated WVU, leading 12-3 in the all-time series and winning 7-0 in Morgantown last season.

The Mountaineers are 3-9 this season and will enter Sunday's match riding a two-match losing streak. The two teams' only common opponent this spring has been Morehead State, whom Marshall defeated 7-0 and WVU fell to 3-4.

The Sunday showdown will be the Herd's fifth home match of the season, and just the team's second outdoor match this spring. The ITA Mid-Atlantic Region match can be followed live by clicking the link below.
