HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Junior diver Lauren Rone will participate in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships starting Friday at the University of Buffalo's Alumni Arena Natatorium.

Rone is the fourth diver in Marshall Diving history to be a part of the zone diving championships. The junior qualified for zones in late October when she set the new all-time Marshall score in the one meter with a mark of 281.55. It was also her career best score. This will be her second time competing in zones, as she previously participated in the championships during the 2009-2010 season.

The Colorado native will be amongst 47 divers from 26 schools and 11 conferences in Buffalo for the three day event. The one-meter competition will be held on Friday and the three-meter Saturday. Action begins at noon each day. Rone will not participate in the platform diving event.

All springboard diving events will consist of a preliminary round of six dives using all five groups. The top 18 finishers from the preliminary round will advance to the final round and will perform a second list of six dives using all five groups. The top 12 finishers from the platform preliminary rounds will advance to the final round and will perform a second list of five dives.

Four spots the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships have been allocated to Zone A, which stretches from New England through Virginia. Four other regional competitions, in Auburn, AL, Bloomington, IN, Iowa City, IA and Colorado Springs, CO, are also being held this weekend to determine the national field.
