BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Marshall women's golf ended the regular season with a final tournament in Bloomington, Ind. at the Indiana University's par-72, 6055 yard golf course. The Thundering Herd placed 13th after only being able to play one round due to weather.

Because of the weather, the Herd was only able to complete two holes during Saturday's play. The tournament resumed on Sunday and freshman Korakot Simsiriwong ended up leading Marshall at the end of the competition with a 77 (+5). She placed 16th individually amongst the 15 schools in the field.

Rachel Thompson followed in 28th individually, finishing the tournament six strokes over par at 78. Kristyn Morrone ended with an 80 (+8) stroke tally, while her twin sister Caitlyn Morrone scored an 84 (+12). Senior Maria Battaglia rounded up the effort with a score of 90.

"Obviously we didn't perform as I would have hoped we would, but it was yet another good learning experience for a relatively young team," said head coach Meredith Knight Rowsey. "I felt they handled the weather delay well. On Sunday we seemed to struggle with the high winds on a tight course. We have a lot to learn about adjusting to less than perfect course and weather conditions but it will come.

Hopefully we will use this as motivation to work harder than ever this week to prove we are much better team than this at CUSA tournament."

Host school Indiana won the tournament title after shooting a combined 10 strokes over par with a 298. Ball State's Jenna Hague, Indiana's Kate Coons and Kristtini Cain, and IUPUI's Lauren Kuss split the individual title after each golfer shot a 73 (+1) in the shortened event.

The Thundering Herd will next be traveling to Gulf Shores, Ala. for the Conference USA championships. The event will take place from April 22-24. Be sure to visit www.herdzone.com for more information.
