Simsiriwong Named Marshall Student-Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Freshman golfer Korakot Simsiriwong has been named Marshall's Student-Athlete of the week after placing 7th in a field of 50 Conference USA golfers during the league championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The Thailand native shot a team-low 74 in rounds two and three to combine for a 224 (+8) during the three-round event. Her effort tied with three other conference golfers to place seventh individually.

Simsiriwong has been the Herd's most consistent golfer throughout the season, averaging a team-second 78.0 stroke average per round. She played in a team-high 26 rounds during the 2011-12 season and had her best finish in the EKU Tri-Match, where she tied for second individually.
