HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Division of Accountancy and Legal Environment recently announced that their faculty selected Jessica Hughes as the 2012 recipient of the FSA Student Award.
Hughes, a senior for the Marshall softball team, received the award for being the most outstanding student in the Master of Science in Accountancy program at Marshall. She will complete her master's degree this month after earning her bachelor's degree in Accounting & Finance last year. The Oklahoma native has accepted a position with the accounting firm Dixon, Hughes, and Goodman and will begin in October.
FSA, which stands for Federation of Schools of Accountancy, is the organization of accredited graduate accounting programs in the United States and abroad. The Marshall division has been accredited since 2009 and is a full-fledged and active member in FSA.
"Jessica is an outstanding student-athlete and what she has accomplished by taking advantage of her redshirt year is phenomenal," said Marshall head coach Shonda Stanton. "It is nice to see her graduate, secure a job and look forward to the impact she will make in the Charleston community."
She was honored with a commemorative plaque in April at the Beta Alpha Psi Spring Banquet. Hughes is currently batting .295 on the season in 49 games, with two triples and 21 stolen bases.
