Folden and Williams Playing in the NPF this Summer

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Two former Marshall softball players, Rachel Folden and Amanda Williams are both playing in the National Pro Fastpitch league (NPF) this summer.

Folden, a former four-time All-American at Marshall is in her fifth season in the league. Playing on the newest team in the league, the Carolina Diamonds, she is currently batting a team high .409 with four home runs which leads the squad while driving in 10 runs. Folden previously played for the Chicago Bandits during her first four years in the NPF. She was rookie of the year in 2008 and the 2010 NPF offensive player of the year.

In her seventh year in the NPF, Williams returns to the Chicago Bandits after spending last season with the team. Batting .286 this season, the current Marshall assistant coach and 2003 MAC freshman of the year has played for two other teams in the NPF, the Tennessee Diamonds (2010) and the Rockford Thunder (2007-09). She was an all-star in 2009 and began her NPF career in 2006 with the Bandits.

Both players were league champions last year with the Bandits. Williams also won the league championship in 2009 while playing for Rockford.
