NPF Championship Features Two Former Herd Players

ROSEMONT, Ill - Former Marshall softball players Rachel Folden and Amanda Williams, along with their respective teams, will match-up in the semi-finals of the 2012 NPF Championship starting Thursday from Rosemont, Ill.
Folden, playing for the no. 3 seed Carolina Diamonds will do battle with Williams and her Chicago Bandits squad, the championship's second seed. The two squads will go head-to-head in a three game series to determine who will face either the USSSA Pride or Akron Racers in Sunday's final.
The Bandits and Diamonds will begin the NPF Championship at 7:00 p.m. ET Thursday from The Ballpark at Rosemont. Game two of the series will be Friday at 9:30 p.m. ET. Should a third and deciding game be needed, it will be played on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET
The winners of each series will decide the 2012 championship in a best of three series starting Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET. Game two is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by ESPN2 and ESPN3. If a third game is needed it be played after Sunday's first game at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Chicago is the defending NPF champions. Folden and Williams were members of the Bandits in 2011.
Folden currently holds the third best batting average in the NPF at .389. She has 25 RBI and eight home runs on the season. In Chicago, Williams, the current Marshall assistant coach batted .300 in the regular season, second best on her team.
