MEMPHIS, Tenn.- The Marshall University men's soccer team will play its opening Conference USA match of the season when it travels to the Mike Rose Soccer Complex for a Wednesday showdown with the Memphis Tigers. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
The Thundering Herd enters the match with an undefeated 6-0-1 record and has allowed just one goal so far this season. Memphis is 3-3-1 after defeating Drake University 5-0 in its most recent match. C-USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Mark Sherrod, leads the Tigers with four goals, while Tom Jackson's tally of five goals paces the Herd.
The match will be Marshall's first in ten days since the Herd defeated Radford 1-0 in overtime two weekends ago, and will be both teams' first C-USA game of the 2012 season. Last year, a Tom Jackson hattrick doomed the Tigers to a 3-0 loss at Sam Hood Field. Marshall holds the all-time series record, 5-2 over Memphis.
Wednesday's showdown will be the first of two consecutive C-USA matches for the Herd this week as the team remains on the road to play Tulsa on Saturday. Live stats and video for Wednesday's game against Memphis may be found by clicking the links below.
