Marshall Travels to Rice for Sunday Game

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Going 3-0 in the past three home games, Marshall women's basketball looks to carry its home court success to the road as the Thundering Herd takes on Rice at 3 p.m. on Sunday in Dallas, Texas.

Marshall (9-16, 3-9 C-USA) is coming off a 72-60 win over the second-ranked team in Conference USA, East Carolina, on Thursday. The game featured four different Herd players record double-digit point totals including Erica Woods (15), Leandra King (15), Suporia Dickens (12), and Norrisha Victrum (12).

The Herd is led by Shay Weaver, who totals 9.3 points per game, ranking No. 26 in C-USA for scoring. She has made 59 three-pointers this season and is nine away from the Marshall single season record for three-pointers.

Chukwuka Ezeigbo follows Weaver with 8.1 points per game and is the second-most accurate shooter in the league, marking a 51.7 shooting percentage for the season. She leads Marshall in rebounds with 6.4 per game and ties Leandra King for most blocked shots with 32.

Rice (11-14, 3-9 C-USA) recently defeated UCF, 66-49, on Thursday night. Rice is the second-worst scoring offense in the conference averaging 56.4 points, but ranks second in rebounding margin with plus-4.8 per contest.

Jessica Kuster is the leader of the Owls, averaging a double-double for the season. She ranks 19th nationally in double-doubles, recording 13 for the year, and averages 16.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She also leads the team in blocks (37) and steals (26).

Rice leads the all-time series, 4-3, after the two teams first met on Jan. 13, 2006. Marshall won last year's meeting, 65-47, in the Cam Henderson Center.
