HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Following a 67-52 loss to UCF on Thursday, Marshall women's basketball looks to respond against the top team in C-USA, SMU, on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET in Dallas, Texas.

The Thundering Herd is 7-14 (1-7 C-USA) after the loss to the Knights that was featured on Fox Sports Network. Erica Woods earned a career-high 20 points after going 7-for-10 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. The total is the highest of any Marshall player this season. Suporia Dickens also recorded a career-high with 15 points.

Marshall is led by Shay Weaver, who totals 9.6 points per game after making 51 three-pointers this season. She ranks second in the league in three-pointers made per game with 2.4 per contest. The Herd is led on the boards by Chukwuka Ezeigbo, who is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game. Ezeigbo is the second-most accurate shooter in the league, averaging 52.6 percent from the field.

SMU is 17-4 (8-0 C-USA) for the season and has won the past nine games straight. The Mustangs are 12-2 on their home court and have not lost in Dallas, Texas since a 61-59 defeat to Wichita State on Dec. 22. Kansas transfer, Keena Mays, became active in December and has been averaging 20.8 points in her 13 games played. Akil Simpson leads the Mustangs on the boards with 7.8 rebounds per game and is also the most accurate shooter on the team, shooting 45.9 percent from the field.

Marshall trails SMU in the all-time series, 8-1. The Herd's only win was a 70-63 victory in Dallas, Texas on Jan. 8, 2009. The two teams met for the first time in Marshall's inaugural season with Conference USA during the 2005-06 season.
