Canceled Game Results in Slip N' Slide

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-The Marshall and UAB softball teams enjoyed fun on the tarp, after coaches and officials decided to cancel the series finale. The Thundering Herd was prepared for the possibility of a canceled game, due to weather reports claiming inclement weather throughout the weekend.
Marshall head coach Shonda Stanton and UAB head coach Marla Townsend joined in on the amusement, as they raced and slid across the drenched tarp on Sunday, April 28. After the games of slip n' slide, the Blazers' seniors were recognized, as the canceled game was supposed to be a part of the senior weekend festivities. The Marshall seniors were also appreciated, as seniors Jessica Ferrick, Ashley Gue, Alysia Hively, Bri Anna Hope, Jazmine Valle and Andi Williamson were also announced.
The Blazers claimed the series win, after defeating the Herd in back-to-back shutouts on Saturday, April 27. The two teams have the possibility of facing each other again during the C-USA Tournament, May 9-11, but it will be in the chase for the conference title.
Marshall will return to action on Wednesday, May 1 against Morehead State in Morehead Ky. for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. ET. The Herd's seniors will enjoy their last games and be honored at the "Dot" May 4-5 against conference opponent UTEP.
