HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Thundering Herd men's soccer team (4-6-2, 2-2-0) is traveling again on Saturday for its fifth Conference USA match of the season. Marshall will play against the UAB Blazers (7-4-1, 2-1-0). The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Birmingham, Alabama.
HAVE YOU HERD?
This Wednesday, Marshall gained another win against Northern Kentucky University. Both teams failed to score in the first half, but The Herd scored two goals in the second, winning 2-1. Sophomore Daniel Jodah (Mississauga, Ontario) scored his team high fourth goal of the season and Junior Connor Marino (Hopewell, NJ) earned his first career goal. The Norse fell to 2-6-4 after the loss.
SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
The Blazers are at 7-4-1, 2-1-0 this season. The team has won two out of three conference matches, one against FIU and the other against South Carolina. Junior Freddy Ruiz found the back of the net on Saturday, winning against the Gamecocks 1-0. This made Ruiz the team-leader with six goals.
THE GRAY AREA
Marshall coach Bob Gray on the UAB match:
"They are a good side and tough to beat at home. They are probably the most athletic team we play at home and we have to be on our game."
"It's been a tough week because we get home late tonight and we will be traveling all day Friday on this long trip. We have to make sure we are mentally and physically prepared."
