UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Marshall women's golf senior Sarah Helly (Enniscrone, Ireland) shot a career-low 1-over-par 73 in the final round to secure a career-best finish of ninth place on Sunday at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

Helly improved by one stroke from the second round, moving up nine spots to total 8-over 224 for the tournament. Fellow senior Korakot Simsiriwong (Narathiwat, Thailand) joined her in the top 20 at No. 16 with an 11-over 227.

As a team, the Herd dropped one spot to finish 13th at 78-over 942.

ON THE LEADERBOARD
Columbia won the tournament with a team total of 30-over 894, followed by Yale in second place with a 31-over 895 and Harvard rounding out the top three with a total of 33-over 897. Kelsey Murphy of Eastern Michigan earned individual honors with a 2-over 218 total.

PRATS' POINTS
Quotes by Coach Tiffany Prats:

On obstacles for the team:
"This week the weather being cold and windy exposed our weaknesses. The team is improving and I have confidence if they continue to work and buy into what we are working on, then scores will improve."

On senior Sarah Helly's performance:
"Sarah had a great round in the conditions today, finishing in ninth. She proved that you don't have to hit the ball perfect to score. I'm really happy for her and I know this will be great for her confidence moving into the rest of the season."

On two golfers placing in the top 20:
"Although Korakot [Simsiriwong] fought hard, it wasn't her day today. Her game is very close to where it needs to be. To have two girls in the top 20 [in Helly and Simsiriwong] is a good start, now we just need to improve as a team. The key for us moving forward is to get four scores each round in the 70s."
