HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- After three student-athletes were named to the Conference USA awards teams on Tuesday, Marshall has received an additional honor for classroom performance. Marshall men's soccer junior midfielder/defender Jack Hopkins has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, the league office announced today.
The Biology major has a 3.76 GPA and was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2013 and 2014. Hopkins is the ninth Marshall player to receive the Conference USA All-Academic honor. Last season, Marshall's Zach Hunter won the award for a second time.
Hopkins is one of Conference USA's most dynamic midfielders, with playmaking ability on both ends of the field. He has three goals this season and 10 career goals for the Thundering Herd. Hopkins also takes many of the team's corner kicks and provides accurate crosses from the wings. Hopkins can also line up as a defender for the Herd.
Hopkins and the Herd will be in action today in the Conference USA tournament against the UAB Blazers at 4:30 p.m. in Norfolk, Va.
