Herd Cross Country Completes Mid-Atlantic Regional

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Marshall's cross country teams completed its run today in the NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Regional at Penn State University. In the men's 10K, Marshall finished 19th out of 23. The Herd women's team finished 28th out of 29 overall teams in the 6K. Villanova won the men's event, while Georgetown won the women's contest.
For the men's team, senior Caleb Bowen ran the fastest time with a run of 32:12. He was followed by senior Jack Whitney (32:41) and sophomore William Shaffer (33:00). The Herd rounded out the 10K with junior Brian Salmons (33:27), freshman Austin Hamrick (34:09) and sophomore Drake Seccurro (35:24).
In the women's event, Marshall was led by sophomore Andrea Porter (23:30) and freshman Tori Dent (23:49). Freshman Rachel Morris came in at 24:08 while senior Lauren Bartoldson and junior Alexandria Phares ran identical times at 24:16. Senior Celia Leonard ran a 24:57 and freshman Madeline Armstrong finished up at 25:59.
