Women's Golf Improves on C-USA Championship Day 2

GULF SHORES, Ala. - Marshall women's golf carded a 15-stroke improvement in the second round of the Conference USA Women's Golf Championship, Tuesday, at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.
The Thundering Herd moved up three spots from the first day, from 13th place into a tie for 10th place with North Texas at 43-over-par 619. Tulane continues to lead the field at 4-under 572, followed by UTSA at 2-over 578.
Senior Rachel Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio) remains in the top position for Marshall in a tie for 17th at 4-over 148. However, Gabby Marcum (Beavercreek, Ohio) posted the Herd's biggest improvement of the day. She finished 10 strokes better than the previous round with a 3-over 75, totaling 16-over 160. The 10-stroke improvement is the largest of the season for Marcum.
In the second round, the Herd scored:
Rachel Thompson - T10 (73-75=148)
Korakot Simsiriwong - T52 (81-74=155)
Sarah Helly - T36 (78-78=156)
Gabby Marcum - T63 (85-75=160)
Natalie Irwin - T63 (85-85-170)
Marshall will conclude competition in the final round, Wednesday, beginning at 9:20 a.m. ET.
