HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall swimming and diving team has been honored for its academic success during the 2013 fall semester with the Team Scholar All-American award.

The award is presented by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

"I am very proud of our team," coach Bill Tramel said. "This is our third time since my arrival three semesters ago that we have been honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for our success in the classroom."

The Herd posted a 3.25 GPA to earn the recognition with 16 of the 21 student athletes posting a 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.

"Honestly, we are just doing what we expect of ourselves," Tramel added. "We expect to succeed in the classroom, and when we all graduate, we expect to succeed in our chosen career and in life. Our great professors here at Marshall prepare us to do that."
