Herd Men's Soccer Takes on FAU Monday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's soccer team (4-7-0, 0-4-0 C-USA) travels to Florida Monday to face Florida Atlantic (0-11-2, 0-5-0 C-USA) at 7 p.m.

Both schools are searching for their first wins in Conference USA. The Owls are searching for their first win of the season.

FREEMAN SCORES FIRST GOAL SINCE 2012

In the late stages of Saturday's 3-1 loss to Charlotte, senior defender Matt Freeman (Irmo, S.C.) scored a penalty in the 90th minute.

The goal is Freeman's first since Oct. 23, 2012 against FIU at home. The match was played in Hurricane, W.Va. during the completion of Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.

SEDOR MAKES FIRST HERD START

Freshman Jack Sedor (Anchorage, Alaska), made his first start and appearance against Charlotte Saturday. The forward played 26 minutes in the C-USA contest.

With the start, Sedor joins midfielder Cameron Schneider (Knoxville, Tenn.) and defenders Chris Taibi (Wantagh, N.Y.) and John Pappas (Oceanside, N.Y.) as freshmen who have started for the Herd in 2015. Forward Chris Sanchez (Scottsdale, Ariz.) has seven appearances.

Sedor has the distinction of being the first player in the men's soccer program from the state of Alaska. He won the Gatorade State Player of the Year Award in both his junior and senior seasons.

SCOUTING THE OWLS

Florida Atlantic is now at 0-5 in Conference USA play after losing 2-0 to Charlotte on Friday. The team has struggled offensively, scoring seven goals while allowing 31. Ramon Whittaker and Elijah McDonald lead the Owls with two goals apiece.

NEXT UP

The Herd hosts New Mexico Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m., starting its last series of home games in 2015.
