Herd Cross Country Season Resumes Saturday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall cross country team returns to action Saturday, racing in the Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.

MEET INFORMATION
Marshall's men's and women's teams have been seeded in the "blue" races. The men's team will race 8,000 meters at 10:45 a.m. against 37 other schools, including Conference USA opponent Western Kentucky. Other notable schools in the men's race are Kentucky and Ole Miss. In the women's 5,000m race, the Herd will be competing against 35 other schools, including fellow C-USA member UAB. The race will start at 11:30 a.m. Other notable opponents in the race are the Tennessee and Ole Miss. A full list of competitors can be found here.
FRESHMEN FINDING SUCCESS EARLY
Men's runners Nick Schmidt (Davison, Mich.) and Daniel Green (Mercersburg, Pa.) have paced the Herd in the first two meets. The duo has finished first (Schmidt) and second (Green) for Marshall in each of the first two races.
On the women's side, freshman Adrianna Cook (Coal City, W.Va.) finished first for the Herd in the opening meet, while classmate Taylor Craigo (Warren, Ohio) finished just behind junior Andrea Porter (Point Pleasant, W.Va.) at the last meet, the Commodore Classic.

Assistant coach Caleb Bowen on the Louisville meet:
"I believe we have a great opportunity to race really well here and show everybody what we can do. I think both teams are ready to make a statement this week and with good conditions, I predict a lot of our runners to run personal records."
