Junior diver Megan Wolons (Williamsburg, Va.) set the school record in the 3-meter dive and several Herd swimmers placed with either first wins or lifetime bests.
Marshall leads Old Dominion 118-65 and also leads Davidson 101-85.
A full result PDF will be available following the conclusion of Saturday's event, which resumes at 10 a.m.
AGAINST DAVIDSON AND OLD DOMINION
Wolons continued her early season success with a score of 304.85 in the 3-meter dive, which is the school record. She also was able to qualify for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in March with the score.
Sophomore Madi Pulfer (Ottawa, Ontario) won the 200 yard freestyle with a season-best 1:54.86.
Freshman Carolina Wanner (Stafford, Va.) won the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:08.14.
Sophomore Lauren Cowher (Roanoke, Va.) picked up her first win in the 50 freestyle (24.60).
Freshman Anna Lynch (Oakwood, Ohio) swam a lifetime best 17:22.31 and finished second in the 1,650 freestyle.
MEET QUOTES
Marshall coach Bill Tramel on the first day:
"A very good night for us with some great racing. Lifetime bests and our first NCAA Zone qualifier since 2013. There were some technical things we can improve upon. That's the great thing about racing competition, we can identify things we need to improve that we don't see in practice."
"We're fortunate to be ahead at halftime, but the game isn't over. We need to keep our focus. It will be a great battle tomorrow."
Diving coach Andrew Helmich on performance of Megan Wolons:
"I am absolutely thrilled with Megan's performance tonight. Breaking 300 points is a huge milestone in her career and doing it this early in the season is outstanding. On top of that she qualified for NCAA Zones and set the Marshall University team record. This record was set in 2005 and that alone speaks to how great her performance tonight was. Making 3 huge breakthroughs in one night is more than I could have asked for and I can't wait to see what she does next."
