HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's basketball redshirt senior Leah Scott (Detroit, Mich.) was named to the Preseason All-Conference USA team, the league announced Wednesday. Scott finished the 2014-15 season in the top 15 in C-USA in several categories, including eighth in points per game with 15.4.
Scott led the Herd in many statistical categories in 2014-15. She paced the team in scoring with a total of 494. Scott finished just six points shy of becoming only the fourth player in Herd history with 500 points scored in a season. Her 494 points were the eighth highest single season total in program history. She scored in double figures in 28 of 32 games this past season including the final 10 games to help lead the Herd into the Women's Basketball Invitational.
Leah Scott also led the team in minutes played (1,096), field goals made (185), field goals attempted (391), free throws made (99), free throws attempted (148) and assists (91). Her total of 185 field goals ranks as the 10th highest total in Herd history.
In just her third Herd season, Scott is poised to climb up the leaderboards of some of the best career numbers all-time at Marshall. She is 167 points away from becoming the 18th player in Herd history with 1,000 for a career. Scott has 300 field goals made and needs only 51 more to move into the top 20. Scott is also nine free throws away from moving into the top 15.
Fans can get a glimpse of Scott at "Rock The Rec" Thursday, Oct. 22, which will take place at the Marshall Recreation Center.
Marshall gets the season rolling with an exhibition contest at home against Kentucky Christian on Nov. 4. The regular season opens Nov. 13 at Morehead State.
