BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior Jordan Parkhurst (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scored her second career goal, however, Marshall women's soccer saw its NCAA-leading, 12-match unbeaten streak halt at the feet of UAB, 2-1, in overtime on Friday evening at West Campus Field.

The Thundering Herd suffered its second loss of the season, its first in Conference USA play and its first since the season opener (Aug. 21), falling to 9-3-2, 2-1-2. Alternatively, UAB earned its first C-USA win of the year and its first since its season opener (Aug. 21), improving to 2-9-0, 1-3-0.

Also of note: the overtime loss was Marshall's first since a 1-0 decision against East Carolina in the 94th minute on Oct. 25, 2012. Since the start of the 2013 season, the Herd is 4-1-9 when playing extra minutes.

Parkhurst gave Marshall the 1-0 advantage right out of the gate, finding the net in the fourth minute on a cross from classmate Sydney Arnold (Stafford, Va.). It was Arnold's team-leading 16th point of the year (six goals, four assists). Marshall kept its 1-0 lead heading into the break.

UAB found the equalizer in the 57th minute on Kasey Johnson's fourth goal of the season, tying the match at 1-1. The Blazers kept momentum heading into the final minutes of regulation, despite the Herd almost doubling UAB's shots, 19-10. As time ran out, Marshall headed into its third consecutive overtime match, its fifth in the last seven outings.

The Herd had two chances to score in extra time, with Jenna Dubs (Green Lane, Pa.) and Kelly Culicerto (Charlotte, N.C.) each placing a shot on goal. However, Rachel Green had the lucky foot for UAB as she put one past Marshall goalkeeper Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) in the 95th minute to seal the Blazers' comeback victory, 2-1.
