HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall swimming and diving team dropped a contest against Ohio Friday night in Athens, Ohio.

AGAINST THE BOBCATS

Sophomore Madi Pulfer (Ottawa, Ontario), led the Herd with two events, including a lifetime best and top ten time in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:16.21. Pulfer also won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:02.81.

Freshman Anna Lynch (Oakwood, Ohio) also had a lifetime best and top ten time in the 1,000 yard freestyle, with a time of 10:22.32 and a third place finish.

Junior Chloe Parsemain (Fos sur Mer, France) had two season bests and also a lifetime best in the 100 backstroke (59.33). Her other season best came in the 100 yard butterfly (57.21).

Caroline Wanner performed well in the 200 backstroke and 200 IM as well, with times of 2:05.70 and 2:06.96 respectively. Both times were season bests and also ranked in the all-time top ten.
TRAMEL TALK
Marshall coach Bill Tramel on the meet:

"We ran into a talented team tonight. We knew we would have to be sharp and some of us were great. Our distance corps were fantastic. We had some really good swims from Caroline (Wanner) and Emma (Lockyer). However, we were not as good at finishing our races with a sense of urgency. Our underwaters continue to be a major weakness. These competitions teach us what we need to work on. Some things we can correct right away, like finishing through the wall. Other things will take more time. We continue to need improvement on our core strength and our overall strength. That can only be done in the weight room over time."

"There were some very bright spots that we feel really good about. Our race strategy is coming along and some are executing it perfectly. We have great endurance. Just great endurance and run people down at the end. That should give us confidence that we are working hard in practice. Next week is Nike Cup and our major focus for fall semester. We'll get some rest headed in, and that should get us excited."
