Redshirt junior Talequia Hamilton (Huntington, W. Va.) came through with her first double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Shayna Gore (Logan, W. Va.) continues to light up the scoreboard added 13 points.

The game started with the Herd drawing first blood, with Hamilton scoring a quick layup. The Herd then went on a 10-0 run in the first three and a half minutes of the quarter, causing Brescia to call a timeout.

The Herd defense played strong in the first, keeping Brescia from scoring its first points until just over three minutes left in the quarter. The Herd defense recorded one block and seven steals in the first quarter.

From then on the Herd had little trouble, leading the Bearcats 26-3 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter began with both teams trading three pointers. From then on the Herd scorers scorched the Bearcat defense, jumping out to a 30-point lead midway through the second.

The final quarter started out much like the others, with Marshall scoring five quick points. The Herd then kept a consistent 40 point lead over the Bearcats. That lead was extended even further, as the Herd defense sent Brescia on a 3:27 scoring drought. From then on, the Herd had little trouble completing the victory 92-40.

Senior Norrisha Victrum (Columbia, S. C.) passed Casey Baker (2007-09) for ninth place all-time assists with now 281. Next up is Sikeetha Shepard-Hall with 286. Junior Chelsey Romero (Hampton, Va.) added four blocks to her career total and moved up to sixth place all-time with 89.

Coach's Corner

Head Coach Matt Daniel

On the crowd support for the home opener:

"The support we are getting from the fan base is incredible. Coming from where we were over the last few years. It's overwhelming."

On the team and continued development

"We have a long way to go. Need some growth in some pretty significant areas, but we are fun to watch. There is some real talent on this roster and they are so hard on themselves because they don't want to let down their teammates, their families or the staff. And that is great to have. When you score 38 field goals and have 26 assists, they are an unselfish group. There is some spectacular basketball ahead."

Coming Up Next...

The Herd continues their five-game home stand, when they take on the Rhode Island Rams on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.
